Commentary

This artwork was installed in July 2024 on the first floor of "INOGATE OSAKA," a station building directly connected to the west exit of JR Osaka Station. It is part of "WARP (WEST ART PROJECT)," a project promoted by West Japan Railway Company to display artworks in the Osaka Station west side area.
Based on the theme of the "Fountain Boy," which was once a symbol of Osaka Station, the renowned manga artist ARAKI Hirohiko, creator of the popular "JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE" series, designed this piece with the concept of "water circulation," an essential element for fountains. This is Mr. ARAKI's first public art project.
The stained glass portion was created by CREARE Atami-Yugawara Studio. It is a circular stained glass artwork with a diameter of 1.98 meters, composed of 844 pieces of hand-blown antique glass in 42 colors. The details of the original illustration are faithfully reproduced; glass was shaved to express the shadows of the skin, and the line thickness was adjusted to match the distinctive slanted lines of the original artwork.
The enclosure that houses the stained glass was designed by Obayashi Corporation. The dimensions were adjusted to the millimeter level to precisely fit the spherical enclosure, resulting in a highly accurate finish.
