Born in Wakayama prefecture in 1930. After graduating from Sculpture Department of Tokyo Art School, he went to Europe in 1958 and worked in France and Italy. Returned to Japan in 1968. Became Professor at Musashino Art University in 1975 (- 1997). Received the 26th Teijiro Nakahara Award in 1995. Received the Purple Ribbon in 1997.
