Born in 1931. Graduated from Department of Craft and Design, Kyoto City Art University (currently Kyoto City University of Arts). In addition to producing many popular illustrations including "Uncle Tris", worked as an animation producer, a catoonist and an essayist also. Known as an unrivaled ship lover, was actively involved in the design of ships and the publish of ship books, and was given a title of Honorary Captain from shipping companies. Passed away in 2015.
