MIYATA RyoheiMetal Craft Artist, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo University of the Arts, Director-General of the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition "I tried bright coloring so that the viewers get better. I want you to be healthy when you leave Niigata and to realize your hometown when you come back" (at the unveiling ceremony)
Mr. Miyata from Sado drew his hometown, and it is a fun and colorful work on which there are specialities of Sado such as Japanese crested ibis, Tobishimakanzo (flower), Gold mine, Ogre drum etc.
The stained glass that captures the sun's light shows different expressions depending on season, weather, and time. In addition, 100 kinds and 2500 pieces of antique glass made by hand one by one in Germany are used for the stained glass, and the subtle expressions on the surface create beautiful reflections and a colorful space.
I hope that this stained glass will be familiar forever as a new symbol of the sky gateway of Niigata.
