Power of Image
Mosaic "Power of Image" / Original Painter and Supervisor : Katsuhiko Hibino / Dining Hall, Yokohama City Yokohama Science Frontier High School / Installed on November, 2008
Yokohama Science Frontier High School opened with aiming to bring out the potential originality possessed by each student through the full-scale science and technology education. A mural art "Power of Image" which is suitable for its educational philosophy was installed at the hall in the school building. Mr. Katsuhiko Hibino says, "A person who sits on the bench in front of the mural art will be taken into the picture. You can see the scene that an imagination rises up from the top of his or her head. This mural art will be completed not only by someone's appreciation, but also by someone's participation." Various fossils and ores on the earth and stones collected at the headstream of Tsurumi River flowing through the local area of the school are used in the mosaic work as well as the multicolored glass. You can see the artist's desire to expect young creativity in this work expressing the power of creation and the power of image.
