Born in 1905. An artist representing Japanese concrete sculpture in Showa era. Left a lot of works with subjects of daily human beings, such as a mother and a child, youth, and so on. Actively participated in the peace movement after the war. Produced a commemorative statue of the students dead in the war "Voice of Wadatsumi" to wish for world peace in 1950. Received the Japan Peace and Culture Award. Received the Third Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1979. Passed away in 1980.
