Japanese-style Painter

Born in Asahikawa city, Hokkaido in 1937. Studied under Ikuo Hirayama. Draws pure imaginary landscapes whose subjects are familiar nature, human being and others using supple line drawings with pure neutral color tones. Won his first prize at Inten Exhibition in 1965, and won many awards since then such as Nihon Bijutsuin Prize, Taikan Prize in 1983. As of 2014, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo University of the Arts, Doujin and Director of Nihon Bijutsuin.
