Western-style Painter

He was involved in the establishment of Issuikai and since then has been an important member. His "Meiji Western-style Houses" series for which he visited over 300 locations nationwide is highly evaluated as a cultural work beyond the boundaries of art. His works with urban and beautiful colors are unique, and he accomplished a monumental work in the Japanese Western-painting world, with drawing sanctity lively in the affection between parents and children or the people's livings in Michinoku full of poetry.

Studied under Hakutei Ishii, Ikuma Arishima, and Shintaro Yamashita at Art Department, Bunka Gakuin
1949
Received Prize for Excellence at Issuikai by "Yellow cloth"
1956
Went to Europe as an international student of the Ministry of Education
1960
Became a member of Issuikai
1961
Held Meiji Western-style houses sketch exhibition in Tokyo and various places
1963
Received the 6th Yasui Award, and his work was purchased by National Museum of Modern Art
1971
Held "Meiji Western-style Houses" nationwide version completion commemoration exhibition all over the country
2005
A special memorial room for him opened at Shinjo Furusato Historical Center
2007
Passed away (92 years old)
