Ceramic Relief "Shu, Sha, Shi - Poems devoted to sky, water and light" / Original Designer and Supervisor : Takenobu Igarashi / Departure Lobby on 2nd Floor of Terminal Building, Kushiro Airport / Installed on December 16, 2015 See Original Painting
Kushiro Airport is surrounded by scarce natural environments such as two national parks called "Kamui tourist area of water" (Kushiro Wetland National Park, Akan National Park) and Ramsar Convention registration wetlands. Akan River flowing from Akan Lake and Kushiro River flowing from Kussharo Lake not only support the foundation of industry and life in the area around the airport, but also generate fog with warm air flowing from the sea off Kushiro, and moisten the forests in Akan caldera and Kussharo caldera. Also, in winter, various ice phenomena such as frost ice, coarse ice, frost flower, diamond dust etc. are generated in three caldera lakes (Akan Lake, Mashu Lake and Kussharo Lake). Based on the concept of the workings of "water" characteristic of the airport surrounding area, this ceramics relief was produced.
