Artist's Message

Akemi TakatsuDyeing CraftsmanWhen viewing the mountains of Aso floating in the sea of clouds far away from Daikan peak, my heart is filled with awe to nature.
And after the sea of clouds disappears, the bright mountain range spreads to the back of the eyelids like a panorama.

Commentary

With the completion of the first stage construction for implovement of Kumamoto Airport Terminal, the original painter and supervisor of the ceramics relief "Mountain God on Clouds" produced is Akemi Takatsu, Dyeing Craftsman, who lives in Kumamoto City. Expressing the magnificent view of Mt. Aso which is also a symbol of Kyushu in a bright and energetic way. Komezuka floating in the sea of clouds, the mountains of Aso such as Nekodake, Takadake and Nakadake spread over the eyes. A powerful ceramics relief adorns the entrance of Kumamoto Airport and entertains visitors.
By making use of traditional Japanese pottery technology in production, giving bold unevenness to it, we finished it as a powerful work that shades and glaze colors create.
